Several previous research studies transformed various types of sensors into a wearable form to more closely monitor body signals and enable real-time, continuous sensing. In order to realize these wearable sensing platforms, it is essential to integrate wireless power supplies and data communication systems with the wearable sensors. This review article discusses recent progress in wireless technologies and various types of wearable sensors. Also, state-of-the-art research related to the application of wearable sensor systems with wireless functionality is discussed, including electronic skin, smart contact lenses, neural interfaces, and retinal prostheses. Current challenges and prospects of wireless sensor systems are discussed.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.3390\/s19204353","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2019,10,9]],"date-time":"2019-10-09T03:14:33Z","timestamp":1570590873000},"page":"4353","update-policy":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.3390\/mdpi_crossmark_policy","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":147,"title":["Recent Progress in Wireless Sensors for Wearable Electronics"],"prefix":"10.3390","volume":"19","author":[{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0003-1579-0220","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Young-Geun","family":"Park","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"Nano Science Technology Institute, Department of Materials Science and Engineering, Yonsei University, Seoul 03722, Korea"},{"name":"Center for Nanomedicine, Institute for Basic Science (IBS), Seoul 03722, Korea"}],"role":[{"vocabulary":"crossref","role":"author"}]},{"given":"Sangil","family":"Lee","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Nano Science Technology Institute, Department of Materials Science and Engineering, Yonsei University, Seoul 03722, Korea"},{"name":"Center for Nanomedicine, Institute for Basic Science (IBS), Seoul 03722, Korea"}],"role":[{"vocabulary":"crossref","role":"author"}]},{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0003-1522-4958","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Jang-Ung","family":"Park","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Nano Science Technology Institute, Department of Materials Science and Engineering, Yonsei University, Seoul 03722, Korea"},{"name":"Center for Nanomedicine, Institute for Basic Science (IBS), Seoul 03722, Korea"}],"role":[{"vocabulary":"crossref","role":"author"}]}],"member":"1968","published-online":{"date-parts":[[2019,10,9]]},"reference":[{"key":"ref_1","doi-asserted-by":"crossref","first-page":"160","DOI":"10.1038\/s41928-018-0043-y","article-title":"Wearable sweat sensors","volume":"1","author":"Bariya","year":"2018","journal-title":"Nat.
