The most representative analytical method for biomarker detection is an immunosensor, which exploits the specific antigen-antibody immunoreaction. Among diverse analytical methods, surface plasmon resonance (SPR)-based immunosensors are emerging as a potential detection platform due to high sensitivity, selectivity, and intuitive features. Particularly, SPR-based immunosensors could detect biomarkers without labeling of a specific detection probe, as typical immunosensors such as enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) use enzymes like horseradish peroxidase (HRP). In this review, SPR-based immunosensors utilizing noble metals such as Au and Ag as SPR-inducing factors for the measurement of different types of protein biomarkers, including viruses, microbes, and extracellular vesicles (EV), are briefly introduced.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.3390\/s20041003","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2020,2,20]],"date-time":"2020-02-20T03:20:03Z","timestamp":1582168803000},"page":"1003","update-policy":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.3390\/mdpi_crossmark_policy","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":46,"title":["Noble Metal-Assisted Surface Plasmon Resonance Immunosensors"],"prefix":"10.3390","volume":"20","author":[{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0002-1632-9586","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Jin-Ha","family":"Choi","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, Sogang University, Seoul 04107, Korea"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0002-5877-0222","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Jin-Ho","family":"Lee","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"School of Biomedical Convergence Engineering, Pusan National University, Yangsan 50612, Korea"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"given":"Joohyung","family":"Son","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, Sogang University, Seoul 04107, Korea"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"given":"Jeong-Woo","family":"Choi","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, Sogang University, Seoul 04107, Korea"},{"name":"Department of Biomedical Engineering, Sogang University, Seoul 04107, Korea"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]}],"member":"1968","published-online":{"date-parts":[[2020,2,13]]},"reference":[{"key":"ref_1","doi-asserted-by":"crossref","first-page":"507","DOI":"10.1021\/acsphotonics.5b00586","article-title":"Noble Metal Alloys for Plasmonics","volume":"3","author":"Gong","year":"2016","journal-title":"Acs Photonics"},{"key":"ref_2","doi-asserted-by":"crossref","first-page":"6961","DOI":"10.1021\/jp036261n","article-title":"Nanoscale optical biosensor: Short range distance dependence of the localized surface plasmon resonance of noble metal nanoparticles","volume":"108","author":"Haes","year":"2004","journal-title":"J.
