Specifically, offset error in the measurement of gravitational acceleration (g) is common among commercially available sensors. In this brief report, we demonstrate how we measured the offset and other errors in three different off-the-shelf wearable sensors available to professionals and how they affected a threshold-based movement detection algorithm for the quantification of infant leg movement. We describe how to calibrate and correct for these offsets and how conducting this improves the reproducibility of results across sensors.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.3390\/s24175736","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2024,9,4]],"date-time":"2024-09-04T04:28:28Z","timestamp":1725424108000},"page":"5736","update-policy":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.3390\/mdpi_crossmark_policy","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":4,"title":["The Utility of Calibrating Wearable Sensors before Quantifying Infant Leg Movements"],"prefix":"10.3390","volume":"24","author":[{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0003-2763-628X","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Jinseok","family":"Oh","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"Division of Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics, Children\u2019s Hospital Los Angeles, Los Angeles, CA 90027, USA"}],"role":[{"vocabulary":"crossref","role":"author"}]},{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0002-6753-634X","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Gerald E.","family":"Loeb","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Alfred E.
