In the forward problem section, the projection geometry and the sensor modelling are discussed. The dimensions, distributions and arrangements of the optical fibre sensors are determined based on the real hardware constructed and these are explained in the projection geometry section. The general idea in sensor modelling is to simulate an artificial environment, but with similar system properties, to predict the actual sensor values for various flow models in the hardware system. The sensitivity maps produced from the solution of the forward problems are important in reconstructing the tomographic image.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.3390\/s91108562","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2009,10,27]],"date-time":"2009-10-27T11:24:16Z","timestamp":1256642656000},"page":"8562-8578","update-policy":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.3390\/mdpi_crossmark_policy","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":3,"title":["Multiple Fan-Beam Optical Tomography: Modelling Techniques"],"prefix":"10.3390","volume":"9","author":[{"given":"Ruzairi Abdul","family":"Rahim","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"Process Tomography Research Group (PROTOM), Department of Control & Instrumentation Engineering, Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, 81310 UTM Skudai, Johor, Malaysia"}]},{"given":"Leong Lai","family":"Chen","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Process Tomography Research Group (PROTOM), Department of Control & Instrumentation Engineering, Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, 81310 UTM Skudai, Johor, Malaysia"}]},{"given":"Chan Kok","family":"San","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Process Tomography Research Group (PROTOM), Department of Control & Instrumentation Engineering, Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, 81310 UTM Skudai, Johor, Malaysia"}]},{"given":"Mohd Hafiz","family":"Fazalul Rahiman","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Tomography Imaging Research Group, School of Mechatronic Engineering, Universiti Malaysia Perlis, 02600 Arau, Perlis, Malaysia"}]},{"given":"Pang Jon","family":"Fea","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Process Tomography Research Group (PROTOM), Department of Control & Instrumentation Engineering, Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, 81310 UTM Skudai, Johor, Malaysia"}]}],"member":"1968","published-online":{"date-parts":[[2009,10,27]]},"reference":[{"key":"ref_1","unstructured":"Abdul Rahim, A.
