We demonstrate that our measure differs from Haantjes curvature and confirm that it expresses the extent to which a stream of associations remains close to its starting point. Finally, we examine the relationship between our measure and accessibility to knowledge stored in memory. We demonstrate that a high degree of attraction facilitates the retrieval of upcoming words in the stream. By applying methods from differential geometry to semantic networks, this study contributes to our understanding of strategic search in memory.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.3390\/sym14081737","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2022,8,22]],"date-time":"2022-08-22T01:56:40Z","timestamp":1661133400000},"page":"1737","update-policy":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.3390\/mdpi_crossmark_policy","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":3,"title":["A Path-Curvature Measure for Word-Based Strategy Searches in Semantic Networks"],"prefix":"10.3390","volume":"14","author":[{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0001-9641-9380","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Haim","family":"Cohen","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"Department of Cognitive Science, The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Jerusalem 91905, Israel"},{"name":"The Federmann Center for the Study of Rationality, Jerusalem 91904, Israel"}],"role":[{"vocabulary":"crossref","role":"author"}]},{"given":"Yinon","family":"Nachshon","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Department of Cognitive Science, The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Jerusalem 91905, Israel"}],"role":[{"vocabulary":"crossref","role":"author"}]},{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0002-4693-9764","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Anat","family":"Maril","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Department of Cognitive Science, The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Jerusalem 91905, Israel"},{"name":"Department of Psychology, The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Jerusalem 91905, Israel"}],"role":[{"vocabulary":"crossref","role":"author"}]},{"given":"Paz M.","family":"Naim","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Department of Cognitive Science, The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Jerusalem 91905, Israel"}],"role":[{"vocabulary":"crossref","role":"author"}]},{"given":"J\u00fcrgen","family":"Jost","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Max Planck Institute for Mathematics in the Sciences, 04103 Leipzig, Germany"},{"name":"The Santa Fe Institute, Santa Fe, NM 87501, USA"}],"role":[{"vocabulary":"crossref","role":"author"}]},{"given":"Emil","family":"Saucan","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Department of Applied Mathematics, Braude College, Karmiel 2161002, Israel"}],"role":[{"vocabulary":"crossref","role":"author"}]}],"member":"1968","published-online":{"date-parts":[[2022,8,19]]},"reference":[{"key":"ref_1","doi-asserted-by":"crossref","first-page":"758","DOI":"10.1038\/s41583-018-0078-0","article-title":"Towards a neuroscience of active sampling and curiosity","volume":"19","author":"Gottlieb","year":"2018","journal-title":"Nat.
