This paper aims to analyze the social representations of violence among older people with functional dependence based on the theory of social representations. A qualitative exploratory\u2013descriptive study was conducted with a sample of 21 older people enrolled in a home-based program in Vit\u00f3ria da Conquista, Bahia, Brazil. A sociodemographic survey and an interview script were used for data collection. The data were analyzed using the content analysis technique and QSR NVivo\u00ae software. Concerning the social representations of violence, older people\u2019s narratives revealed a broad perception of the phenomenon through the following categories: multivariate phenomenon, ageism, neglect, and denial.
