The preparation parameters as the cooling time after oven use in the solvothermal procedure, and also the reaction time in the MWAS method seemed to play an important role in the catalytic performance of the UiO-66(Zr) material, as well as in its recycle capacity. The material prepared by the solvothermal procedure with a fast cooling time showed the best catalytic performance (desulfurization efficiency of 99.5% after 3 h). However, the application of the UiO-66(Zr) material prepared by the MWAS method (desulfurization efficiency of 96% after 3 h) conciliated a higher number of advantages, such as shorter reaction time preparation (15 min) and high catalytic activity for a higher number of reaction cycles. The UiO-66(Zr) prepared by the MWAS method was used for the first time in an oxidative desulfurization process, and according to the catalytic results obtained (high recycle capacity and stability) and shorter reaction time preparation, seems to be a promising material for industrial application.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.3390\/ma12183009","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2019,9,17]],"date-time":"2019-09-17T04:23:36Z","timestamp":1568694216000},"page":"3009","update-policy":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.3390\/mdpi_crossmark_policy","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":41,"title":["Influence of UiO-66(Zr) Preparation Strategies in Its Catalytic Efficiency for Desulfurization Process"],"prefix":"10.3390","volume":"12","author":[{"given":"Alexandre M.","family":"Viana","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"REQUIMTE\/LAQV & Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, Faculty of Sciences, University of Porto, 4169-007 Porto, Portugal"}]},{"given":"Susana O.","family":"Ribeiro","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"REQUIMTE\/LAQV & Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, Faculty of Sciences, University of Porto, 4169-007 Porto, Portugal"}]},{"given":"Baltazar de","family":"Castro","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"REQUIMTE\/LAQV & Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, Faculty of Sciences, University of Porto, 4169-007 Porto, Portugal"}]},{"given":"Salete S.","family":"Balula","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"REQUIMTE\/LAQV & Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, Faculty of Sciences, University of Porto, 4169-007 Porto, Portugal"}]},{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0001-9229-1412","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Lu\u00eds","family":"Cunha-Silva","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"REQUIMTE\/LAQV & Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, Faculty of Sciences, University of Porto, 4169-007 Porto, Portugal"}]}],"member":"1968","published-online":{"date-parts":[[2019,9,17]]},"reference":[{"key":"ref_1","doi-asserted-by":"crossref","first-page":"6335","DOI":"10.1021\/ef401094t","article-title":"Ultraclean fuels production and utilization for the twenty-first century: Advances toward sustainable transportation fuels","volume":"27","author":"Fox","year":"2013","journal-title":"Energy Fuels"},{"key":"ref_2","doi-asserted-by":"crossref","first-page":"759","DOI":"10.1039\/C1RA00309G","article-title":"An evaluation of desulfurization technologies for sulfur removal from liquid fuels","volume":"2","author":"Srivastava","year":"2012","journal-title":"RSC Adv."},{"key":"ref_3","doi-asserted-by":"crossref","first-page":"607","DOI":"10.1016\/S0016-2361(02)00324-1","article-title":"Science and technology of novel processes for deep desulfurization of oil refinery streams: A review","volume":"82","author":"Babich","year":"2003","journal-title":"Fuel"},{"key":"ref_4","doi-asserted-by":"crossref","first-page":"1534","DOI":"10.1016\/j.rser.2016.11.194","article-title":"The role of ionic liquids in desulfurization of fuels: A. review","volume":"76","author":"Ibrahim","year":"2017","journal-title":"Renew.
