More precisely, we provide an in-detailed discussion on rearranging the eigenvalue decomposition polarization analysis\n(EDPA) formalism in the frequency domain to obtain\nthe frequency-dependent polarization properties from\nthe Fourier coefficients owing to the Fourier space\northogonality. Then, by extending the formulation to\nthe TF-domain and incorporating sparsity-promoting\ntime-frequency representation (SP-TFR), we alleviate the limited resolution when estimating the TFdomain polarization parameters. The final details of the\ntechnique are to apply an adaptive sparsity-promoting\ntime-frequency filtering (SP-TFF) to extract and filter\ndifferent phases of the seismic wave. By processing\nearthquake waveforms, we show that by combining\namplitude, directivity, and rectilinearity attributes on\nthe sparse TF-domain polarization map of the signal,\nwe are able to extract or filter different phases of seismic\nwaves.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.36227\/techrxiv.14910063","type":"posted-content","created":{"date-parts":[[2021,7,8]],"date-time":"2021-07-08T08:40:37Z","timestamp":1625733637000},"source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":0,"title":["Sparsity-promoting approach to polarization analysis of seismic signals in the time-frequency domain"],"prefix":"10.36227","author":[{"given":"Hamzeh","family":"Mohammadigheymasi","sequence":"first","affiliation":[]},{"given":"Paul","family":"crocker","sequence":"first","affiliation":[]},{"given":"Maryam","family":"Fathi","sequence":"first","affiliation":[]},{"given":"Eduardo","family":"Almeida","sequence":"first","affiliation":[]},{"given":"Gra\u00e7a","family":"Silveira","sequence":"first","affiliation":[]},{"given":"Ali","family":"Gholami","sequence":"first","affiliation":[]},{"given":"Martin","family":"Schimmel","sequence":"first","affiliation":[]}],"member":"263","container-title":[],"original-title":[],"link":[{"URL":"https:\/\/ndownloader.figshare.com\/files\/28709451","content-type":"unspecified","content-version":"vor","intended-application":"similarity-checking"}],"deposited":{"date-parts":[[2022,1,7]],"date-time":"2022-01-07T20:35:23Z","timestamp":1641587723000},"score":1,"resource":{"primary":{"URL":"https:\/\/www.techrxiv.org\/articles\/preprint\/Sparsity-promoting_approach_to_polarization_analysis_of_seismic_signals_in_the_time-frequency_domain\/14910063"}},"subtitle":[],"short-title":[],"issued":{"date-parts":[[2021,7,8]]},"references-count":0,"URL":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.36227\/techrxiv.14910063","relation":{"is-preprint-of":[{"id-type":"doi","id":"10.1109\/TGRS.2022.3141580","asserted-by":"subject"}]},"subject":[],"published":{"date-parts":[[2021,7,8]]},"subtype":"preprint"}}
