It is homothallic and produces semipapillate sporangia, smooth-walled oogonia containing thick-walled oospores, and paragynous antheridia. Although morphologically similar to <jats:italic>P. citricola<\/jats:italic>, phylogenetic analyses\n of the ITS and <jats:italic>cox<\/jats:italic>1 gene regions demonstrate that <jats:italic>P. multivora<\/jats:italic> is unique. <jats:italic>Phytophthora multivora<\/jats:italic> is pathogenic to bark and cambium of <jats:italic>E. gomphocephala<\/jats:italic> and <jats:italic>E. marginata<\/jats:italic> and is believed to be involved in the decline syndrome of both eucalypt species within\n the tuart woodland in south-west Western
