This debate that seemed to become a promising one, especially at the time of the implementation of a new regulation entity (Regulation Entity for the Social Communication) faded away and did not contribute for any deeper knowledge of the problem. Let us see why.<\/jats:p><jats:p>Nos \u00faltimos anos, em Portugal, tem-se desenvolvido algum debate p\u00fablico em torno dos diferentes pap\u00e9is da televis\u00e3o junto de alguns dos sectores mais jovens da popula\u00e7\u00e3o, seja enquanto meio priorit\u00e1rio de entretenimento, seja enquanto meio privilegiado de informa\u00e7\u00e3o, seja enquanto poss\u00edvel meio de aprendizagens, ou mesmo enquanto simples (ou bastante complexa) \u00abbaby sitter\u00bb. Este debate, que a seu tempo foi de certo modo promissor pelo facto de se ir estabelecer no panorama televisivo portugu\u00eas uma nova entidade reguladora (Entidade Reguladora para a Comunica\u00e7\u00e3o Social) acabou por se esvair e n\u00e3o contribuir grandemente para qualquer conhecimento mais aprofundado do problema.
