In this dialectic game, the media have had a determining influence as an intervening space, from music imagined on the radio to its visual representation on a screen to today\u2019s multimodal display created through the integration of current existing media that expand music\u2019s potential both in terms of production and consumption. An interest in \u2018cross-media\u2019 is the basis for this research which focuses on its most integrated and interactive aspect: immersive worlds. The aim is to classify the environments of immersive worlds through analyzing those most used as spaces for musical representation. Documentary research techniques have been used in order to obtain: a) a census of current immersive musical environments, and b) a functional analysis of important cases. Through this analysis, various proposals are made for uses for immersive worlds, from both a technical perspective as well as from their potential as an interactive medium. In the conclusion, the possibilities for musical representation offered by these metaverses are assessed and possible future scenarios are discussed.<\/jats:p>\n<jats:p>Los lugares de representaci\u00f3n de la m\u00fasica han estado definidos por la equipolencia entre su valor expresivo y su valor de transmisi\u00f3n. En este juego dial\u00e9ctico comunicativo, los medios de comunicaci\u00f3n han jugado un peso determinante como espacios mediados: desde una enso\u00f1aci\u00f3n musical radiof\u00f3nica a una visualizaci\u00f3n de la representaci\u00f3n de la m\u00fasica en la pantalla hasta llegar a una exposici\u00f3n multimodal merced a la integraci\u00f3n de los medios existente en la actualidad en donde la m\u00fasica se ha visto amplificada tanto desde su actividad productiva como de su consumo. Es precisamente en este \u00abcruce de medios\u00bb donde surge el inter\u00e9s de esta investigaci\u00f3n y, en concreto, en su extensi\u00f3n m\u00e1s integradora e interactiva: los mundos inmersivos. Como objetivo, se pretende realizar la caracterizaci\u00f3n de los entornos inmersivos musicales a partir del an\u00e1lisis de los m\u00e1s utilizados como espacio de representaci\u00f3n. La t\u00e9cnica documental ha sido el m\u00e9todo usado con el fin de obtener: a) un registro censal de los espacios inmersivos musicales actuales, y b) un an\u00e1lisis funcional de casos significativos. A partir de este an\u00e1lisis se exponen diversas posibilidades de aplicaci\u00f3n de los entornos inmersivos tanto desde un punto de vista t\u00e9cnico como desde su capacidad como medio interactivo.
