Basado en el proceso contra D. Afonso VI, el realizador consigui\u00f3 ser fiel al tiempo hist\u00f3rico \u2013siglo XVII-, pero tambi\u00e9n profundamente contempor\u00e1neo, explorando aspectos eternos y c\u00edclicos de la propia Historia. El cine, en esta pel\u00edcula, funciona como un escenario donde la Historia revela la escenograf\u00eda que los libros de Historia acostumbran a ocultar.
