They analysed the effects of computer use for schoolwork and gaming of middle school students applying a Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) to Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS) USA. The results showed that when students frequently used computer for schoolwork, they revealed high mathematics self-efficacy, which in turn led to high mathematics performance. On the other hand, the students that used computer for gaming frequently indicated low mathematics self-efficacy and mathematics performance. The authors' study results highlight the importance of guiding students to use computers properly, which is directly and indirectly associated with students' self-efficacy and performance in mathematics.<\/p>","DOI":"10.4018\/ijcbpl.2016070104","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2016,7,22]],"date-time":"2016-07-22T12:07:38Z","timestamp":1469189258000},"page":"48-64","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":3,"title":["The Direct and Indirect Effects of Computer Uses on Student Success in Math"],"prefix":"10.4018","volume":"6","author":[{"given":"Sunha","family":"Kim","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"Department of Counselling, School, and Educational Psychology, State University of New York at Buffalo, Buffalo, NY, USA"}],"role":[{"vocabulary":"crossref","role":"author"}]},{"given":"Mido","family":"Chang","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Florida International University, Miami, FL, USA"}],"role":[{"vocabulary":"crossref","role":"author"}]},{"given":"Namok","family":"Choi","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"University of Louisville, Louisville, KY, USA"}],"role":[{"vocabulary":"crossref","role":"author"}]},{"given":"Jeehyun","family":"Park","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Florida International University, Miami, FL, USA"}],"role":[{"vocabulary":"crossref","role":"author"}]},{"given":"Heejung","family":"Kim","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Mo-Im Kim Nursing Research Institute, Yonsei University, Seoul, South Korea"}],"role":[{"vocabulary":"crossref","role":"author"}]}],"member":"2432","container-title":["International Journal of Cyber Behavior, Psychology and Learning"],"original-title":[],"language":"ng","link":[{"URL":"https:\/\/www.igi-global.com\/viewtitle.aspx?TitleId=160697","content-type":"unspecified","content-version":"vor","intended-application":"similarity-checking"}],"deposited":{"date-parts":[[2022,6,1]],"date-time":"2022-06-01T23:32:44Z","timestamp":1654126364000},"score":1,"resource":{"primary":{"URL":"https:\/\/services.igi-global.com\/resolvedoi\/resolve.aspx?doi=10.4018\/IJCBPL.2016070104"}},"subtitle":[""],"short-title":[],"issued":{"date-parts":[[2016,7,1]]},"references-count":0,"journal-issue":{"issue":"3","published-print":{"date-parts":[[2016,7]]}},"URL":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.4018\/ijcbpl.2016070104","relation":{},"ISSN":["2155-7136","2155-7144"],"issn-type":[{"value":"2155-7136","type":"print"},{"value":"2155-7144","type":"electronic"}],"subject":[],"published":{"date-parts":[[2016,7,1]]}}}
