The researchers found the main factor involved in the difficulties was incomplete spatial concepts. Augmented reality (AR), which is a kind of educational technology, has been widely applied in the educational field in recent years. AR provides two- or three-dimensional objects and\/or information and interaction with them. These characteristics can compensate for the insufficient characterization of compound-body volume in traditional education environments. The paper studies evaluation in utilizing free augmented reality to learn volumetric measurement of compound bodies to complete spatial concepts as well as improve the students' learning performance. The finding suggests that the positive impact on visualization and interaction as well as attitude lead students to be more engaged in learning activities with less cognitive effort, resulting in better learning performance.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.4018\/ijdet.2019100103","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2019,8,23]],"date-time":"2019-08-23T14:19:11Z","timestamp":1566569951000},"page":"36-53","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":10,"title":["Utilizing Free Augmented Reality App for Learning Geometry at Elementary School in Taiwan"],"prefix":"10.4018","volume":"17","author":[{"given":"Koun Tem","family":"Sun","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"National Tainan University, Tainan, Taiwan"}]},{"given":"Meng Hsun","family":"Chen","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"National University of Tainan, Tainan, Taiwan"}]}],"member":"2432","reference":[{"key":"IJDET.2019100103-0","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.3109\/17453054.2013.790794"},{"key":"IJDET.2019100103-1","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.1016\/j.sbspro.2015.01.515"},{"key":"IJDET.2019100103-2","unstructured":"Campbell, D.
