The review focuses on the field of education and briefly examines the inconsistent local, national, and international curriculum standards used to both instruct and assess students. It concludes with a presentation of a brief assessment tool, the Software Recognition Test, which preliminary research suggests has predictive validity for educational use and could, with further development, be used for low stakes assessment of digital literacy for K-12 or post-secondary settings.<\/p>","DOI":"10.4018\/ijdldc.2014100101","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2015,2,13]],"date-time":"2015-02-13T13:01:34Z","timestamp":1423832494000},"page":"1-18","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":19,"title":["Digital Literacy Concepts and Definitions"],"prefix":"10.4018","volume":"5","author":[{"given":"Patricia","family":"Boechler","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"Department of Educational Psychology, University of Alberta, Edmonton, Canada"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"given":"Karon","family":"Dragon","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Department of Educational Psychology, University of Alberta, Edmonton, Canada"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"given":"Ewa","family":"Wasniewski","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Department of Educational Psychology, University of Alberta, Edmonton, Canada"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]}],"member":"2432","reference":[{"key":"ijdldc.2014100101-0","unstructured":"Ala-Mutka, K.
