Described are three stages of development, including a paper prototype, and builds for alpha and beta testing. Game development is documented, and the process of playtesting is reviewed with a focus on the challenges and lessons-learned. Advances made in the development of the game through the playtesting process are discussed along with implications of the rapid iterative prototyping approach.<\/p>","DOI":"10.4018\/ijgbl.2013100102","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2013,12,16]],"date-time":"2013-12-16T19:34:53Z","timestamp":1387222493000},"page":"7-26","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":15,"title":["MACBETH"],"prefix":"10.4018","volume":"3","author":[{"given":"Norah E.","family":"Dunbar","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"Department of Communication, Center for Applied Social Research, University of Oklahoma, Norman, OK, USA"}]},{"given":"Scott N.","family":"Wilson","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"University of Oklahoma, Norman, OK, USA"}]},{"given":"Bradley J.","family":"Adame","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"University of Oklahoma, Norman, OK, USA"}]},{"given":"Javier","family":"Elizondo","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"University of Oklahoma, Norman, OK, USA"}]},{"given":"Matthew L.","family":"Jensen","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"University of Oklahoma, Norman, OK, USA"}]},{"given":"Claude H.","family":"Miller","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"University of Oklahoma, Norman, OK, USA"}]},{"given":"Abigail Allums","family":"Kauffman","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"University of Texas Permian Basin, Odessa, TX, USA"}]},{"given":"Toby","family":"Seltsam","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"University of Oklahoma, Norman, OK, USA"}]},{"given":"Elena","family":"Bessarabova","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"University of Oklahoma, Norman, OK, USA"}]},{"given":"Cindy","family":"Vincent","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"University of Oklahoma, Norman, OK, USA"}]},{"given":"Sara K.","family":"Straub","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"University of Oklahoma, Norman, OK, USA"}]},{"given":"Ryan","family":"Ralston","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"University of Oklahoma, Norman, OK, USA"}]},{"given":"Christopher L.","family":"Dulawan","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"University of Arizona, Tucson, AZ, USA"}]},{"given":"Dennis","family":"Ramirez","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"University of Wisconsin Madison, Madison, WI, USA"}]},{"given":"Kurt","family":"Squire","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"University of Wisconsin Madison, Madison, WI, USA"}]},{"given":"Joseph S.","family":"Valacich","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"University of Arizona, Tucson, AZ, USA"}]},{"given":"Judee K.","family":"Burgoon","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"University of Arizona, Tucson, AZ, USA"}]}],"member":"2432","reference":[{"key":"ijgbl.2013100102-0","author":"C.Aldrich","year":"2003","journal-title":"Simulations and the future of learning: An innovative (and perhaps revolutionary) approach to e-learning"},{"key":"ijgbl.2013100102-1","unstructured":"Boling, E., & Bichelmeyer, B.
