The transmission of the collected signals to the corresponding organ through a wireless link is still in a nascent stage. This paper investigates the feasibility of having multiple UHF-RFID transmitters inside the skull which communicate to the receiver outside. The purpose of this paper is to design a wireless communication channel and enhance the communication using a MAC protocol. The existing MAC protocols were analyzed to be used in a BCI application. Though the combination of existing protocols seems like a possibility to use in a BCI system, the complexity of such a protocol is high. This drawback is overcome by proposing a novel MAC protocol. The performance of the proposed MAC algorithm is related with the widely used Q algorithm for anti-collision in the RFID tags. Parameters like delay and collisions are analyzed in detail which are essential to build a consistent, energy efficient, and a low power BCI system.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.4018\/ijitn.2021040103","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2021,3,29]],"date-time":"2021-03-29T10:15:42Z","timestamp":1617012942000},"page":"24-41","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":0,"title":["Medium Access Control Protocols for Brain Computer Interface Applications"],"prefix":"10.4018","volume":"13","author":[{"given":"Harshini","family":"Harikrishnan","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"San Diego State University, USA"}],"role":[{"vocabulary":"crossref","role":"author"}]},{"given":"Aarjish","family":"Sarkar","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Mount Carmel High School, USA"}],"role":[{"vocabulary":"crossref","role":"author"}]},{"given":"Shams","family":"Al Ajrawi","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"San Diego State University, USA"}],"role":[{"vocabulary":"crossref","role":"author"}]},{"given":"Albena","family":"Mihovska","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Aarhus University, Denmark"}],"role":[{"vocabulary":"crossref","role":"author"}]},{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0001-6563-917X","authenticated-orcid":true,"given":"Christopher","family":"Paolini","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"San Diego State University, USA"}],"role":[{"vocabulary":"crossref","role":"author"}]}],"member":"2432","container-title":["International Journal of Interdisciplinary Telecommunications and Networking"],"original-title":[],"language":"en","link":[{"URL":"https:\/\/www.igi-global.com\/viewtitle.aspx?TitleId=275779","content-type":"unspecified","content-version":"vor","intended-application":"similarity-checking"}],"deposited":{"date-parts":[[2022,5,5]],"date-time":"2022-05-05T16:05:36Z","timestamp":1651766736000},"score":1,"resource":{"primary":{"URL":"http:\/\/services.igi-global.com\/resolvedoi\/resolve.aspx?doi=10.4018\/IJITN.2021040103"}},"subtitle":[""],"short-title":[],"issued":{"date-parts":[[2021,4]]},"references-count":0,"journal-issue":{"issue":"2"},"URL":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.4018\/ijitn.2021040103","relation":{},"ISSN":["1941-8663","1941-8671"],"issn-type":[{"value":"1941-8663","type":"print"},{"value":"1941-8671","type":"electronic"}],"subject":[],"published":{"date-parts":[[2021,4]]}}}
