However, some fundamental and indispensable operations on formal relations were overlooked in traditional studies. This paper presents an extended relation theory with a set of novel algebraic operators on relations beyond classic operations. The algebraic operators on formal relations known as the incremental union and decremental disunion are formally elaborated. The property of relational gains is mathematically modeled, which explains the dynamic mechanism of relations generated by associations of static sets of objects in physical or abstract systems.<\/p>","DOI":"10.4018\/ijssci.2015010103","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2015,11,10]],"date-time":"2015-11-10T13:03:37Z","timestamp":1447160617000},"page":"39-61","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":1,"title":["On the Incremental Union of Relations"],"prefix":"10.4018","volume":"7","author":[{"given":"Yingxu","family":"Wang","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"International Institute of Cognitive Informatics and Cognitive Computing (ICIC), Dept. of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Schulich School of Engineering & Hotchkiss Brain Institute,, Alberta, Canada"}],"role":[{"vocabulary":"crossref","role":"author"}]}],"member":"2432","container-title":["International Journal of Software Science and Computational Intelligence"],"original-title":[],"language":"ng","link":[{"URL":"https:\/\/www.igi-global.com\/viewtitle.aspx?TitleId=140952","content-type":"unspecified","content-version":"vor","intended-application":"similarity-checking"}],"deposited":{"date-parts":[[2022,6,2]],"date-time":"2022-06-02T00:12:11Z","timestamp":1654128731000},"score":1,"resource":{"primary":{"URL":"https:\/\/services.igi-global.com\/resolvedoi\/resolve.aspx?doi=10.4018\/IJSSCI.2015010103"}},"subtitle":["A Key Property of General Systems Explained"],"short-title":[],"issued":{"date-parts":[[2015,1,1]]},"references-count":0,"journal-issue":{"issue":"1","published-print":{"date-parts":[[2015,1]]}},"URL":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.4018\/ijssci.2015010103","relation":{},"ISSN":["1942-9045","1942-9037"],"issn-type":[{"value":"1942-9045","type":"print"},{"value":"1942-9037","type":"electronic"}],"subject":[],"published":{"date-parts":[[2015,1,1]]}}}
