The present study involved two groups of Malaysian ESL students (n = 57) enrolled in a remedial English proficiency course in a public university. All 57 participants were exposed to weekly Kahoot! sessions over a period of one semester; the sessions covered various English language learning components including vocabulary and reading comprehension, but focused largely on grammar. At the end of the semester, the participants completed a 34-item questionnaire comprising closed- and open-ended items. The questionnaire was tested for reliability with returned values indicating high internal consistency, thus making the instrument a reliable option for use in future studies. The study's findings indicate that the students found Kahoot! to be beneficial in terms of: 1) inducing motivation, and 2) fostering and reinforcing learning. The students were also of the opinion that Kahoot! would be useful for foreign language learning (for instance, Spanish and French).<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.4018\/ijvple.2019070104","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2019,4,29]],"date-time":"2019-04-29T17:24:09Z","timestamp":1556558649000},"page":"55-71","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":6,"title":["Language Learning in the 21st Century"],"prefix":"10.4018","volume":"9","author":[{"given":"Debbita Ai Lin","family":"Tan","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"School of Languages, Literacies and Translation, Universiti Sains Malaysia, Gelugor, Malaysia"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"given":"Bee Choo","family":"Lee","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"School of Languages, Literacies and Translation, Universiti Sains Malaysia, Gelugor, Malaysia"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"given":"Malini","family":"Ganapathy","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"School of Languages, Literacies and Translation, Universiti Sains Malaysia, Gelugor, Malaysia"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"given":"Shaidatul Akma Adi","family":"Kasuma","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"School of Languages, Literacies and Translation, Universiti Sains Malaysia, Gelugor, Malaysia"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]}],"member":"2432","reference":[{"issue":"2","key":"IJVPLE.2019070104-0","first-page":"33","article-title":"Language learning style preferences of low English proficiency (LEP) students in a tertiary institution.","volume":"7","author":"A.
