This mixed method study explores differences in attitudes and expectations about technology between the franchisor and its franchisees. Franchise systems are different than other small or medium sized businesses because there are many individuals running their own relatively small business, yet they are still part of a larger whole. Running a successful business requires time, and individual franchisees tend to be more interested in spending that time on their day-to-day operation rather on addressing the information needs of the franchisor. As a result, franchisors often feel that the technologies they offer to facilitate information sharing are underutilized. A set of recommendations is provided for maximizing franchisees\u2019 acceptance and usage of the technologies.<\/p>","DOI":"10.4018\/irmj.2010102602","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2010,4,16]],"date-time":"2010-04-16T18:24:05Z","timestamp":1271442245000},"page":"17-34","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":5,"title":["A Case Study of the Adoption and Use of Information Systems Technology in a Business-Format Franchise"],"prefix":"10.4018","volume":"23","author":[{"given":"Diana L.","family":"Repack","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"Robert Morris University, USA"}]},{"given":"William F.","family":"Repack","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Robert Morris University, USA"}]}],"member":"2432","reference":[{"key":"irmj.2010102602-0","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.1111\/j.1540-5915.1997.tb01322.x"},{"key":"irmj.2010102602-1","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.1287\/isre.11.4.418.11876"},{"key":"irmj.2010102602-2","doi-asserted-by":"crossref","unstructured":"Burgess, S.
