As a response, a Business Analytics Special Interest Group (SIG) was formed at Villanova University in 2007 to better link these two communities and support the growing needs of business. As a multi-disciplinary group composed of both analytics professionals and academics, one of the first tasks was to investigate how businesses viewed analytics and how they were incorporating them in actual practice. With this in mind, an interview questionnaire was developed and senior-level executives from a diverse group of sixteen different firms were interviewed in a group context. Their responses led to the development of a new, integrated analytics curriculum and the establishment of a new Analytics Round Table. The results from this series of semi-structured interviews are presented in this paper.<\/p>","DOI":"10.4018\/jbir.2010040101","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2010,6,30]],"date-time":"2010-06-30T16:51:53Z","timestamp":1277916713000},"page":"1-8","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":7,"title":["The Current State of Analytics in the Corporation"],"prefix":"10.4018","volume":"1","author":[{"given":"Thomas","family":"Coghlan","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"Villanova University, USA"}],"role":[{"vocabulary":"crossref","role":"author"}]},{"given":"George","family":"Diehl","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Villanova University, USA"}],"role":[{"vocabulary":"crossref","role":"author"}]},{"given":"Eric","family":"Karson","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Villanova University, USA"}],"role":[{"vocabulary":"crossref","role":"author"}]},{"given":"Matthew","family":"Liberatore","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Villanova University, USA"}],"role":[{"vocabulary":"crossref","role":"author"}]},{"given":"Wenhong","family":"Luo","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Villanova University, USA"}],"role":[{"vocabulary":"crossref","role":"author"}]},{"given":"Robert","family":"Nydick","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Villanova University, USA"}],"role":[{"vocabulary":"crossref","role":"author"}]},{"given":"Bruce","family":"Pollack-Johnson","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Villanova University, USA"}],"role":[{"vocabulary":"crossref","role":"author"}]},{"given":"William","family":"Wagner","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Villanova University, USA"}],"role":[{"vocabulary":"crossref","role":"author"}]}],"member":"2432","reference":[{"issue":"5","key":"jbir.2010040101-0","first-page":"16","article-title":"Benchmarking the Impact of Communities of Practice.","volume":"11","author":"D.Archbold","year":"2008","journal-title":"Knowledge Management Review"},{"issue":"3","key":"jbir.2010040101-1","first-page":"8","article-title":"Re-inventing Your BI Program.","volume":"13","author":"D.Bloom","year":"2008","journal-title":"Business Intelligence Journal"},{"issue":"1","key":"jbir.2010040101-2","first-page":"59","article-title":"Creating Dashboards: The Players and Collaboration You Need for a Successful Project.","volume":"14","author":"A.Chiang","year":"2009","journal-title":"Business Intelligence Journal"},{"key":"jbir.2010040101-3","author":"T.Davenport","year":"2007","journal-title":"Competing on Analytics: The New Science of Winning"},{"key":"jbir.2010040101-4","journal-title":"Magic Quadrant for Business Intelligence Platforms"},{"key":"jbir.2010040101-5","doi-asserted-by":"crossref","unstructured":"Pillania, R.
