Recently it has been shown that BCI can also be used in games to give users a richer experience and new ways to interact with a computer or game console. This paper describes research conducted to find out what the differences are between using actual and imagined movement as modalities in a BCI game. Results show that there are significant differences in user experience and that actual movement is a more robust way of communicating through a BCI.<\/p>","DOI":"10.4018\/jgcms.2010100103","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2011,2,3]],"date-time":"2011-02-03T11:59:19Z","timestamp":1296734359000},"page":"33-47","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":12,"title":["Evaluating User Experience of Actual and Imagined Movement in BCI Gaming"],"prefix":"10.4018","volume":"2","author":[{"given":"Bram","family":"van de Laar","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"University of Twente, The Netherlands"}],"role":[{"vocabulary":"crossref","role":"author"}]},{"given":"Boris","family":"Reuderink","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"University of Twente, The Netherlands"}],"role":[{"vocabulary":"crossref","role":"author"}]},{"given":"Danny Plass-Oude","family":"Bos","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"University of Twente, The Netherlands"}],"role":[{"vocabulary":"crossref","role":"author"}]},{"given":"Dirk","family":"Heylen","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"University of Twente, The Netherlands"}],"role":[{"vocabulary":"crossref","role":"author"}]}],"member":"2432","reference":[{"key":"jgcms.2010100103-0","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.2307\/2530496"},{"key":"jgcms.2010100103-1","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.1207\/s15327906mbr1203_2"},{"key":"jgcms.2010100103-2","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.1037\/0021-9010.78.1.98"},{"key":"jgcms.2010100103-3","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.1007\/BF02310555"},{"key":"jgcms.2010100103-4","unstructured":"Graimann, B., Allison, B., & Gr\u00a8aser, A.
