However, it is quite common for producers to create several interconnected media, such as a television show and an associated web site, under the assumption that multiple platforms elicit greater learning than a single medium would. The research reported in this paper uses Cyberchase media as the setting in which to investigate the effectiveness of multiple media as a tool for mathematical learning for elementary school children. The study includes both a naturalistic phase, which mirrors children\u2019s typical use of the media, and an experimental phase, which allows for causal inference to be drawn about their learning outcomes.<\/p>","DOI":"10.4018\/jgcms.2011070101","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2011,10,19]],"date-time":"2011-10-19T16:23:11Z","timestamp":1319041391000},"page":"1-18","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":0,"title":["Television, Games, and Mathematics"],"prefix":"10.4018","volume":"3","author":[{"given":"Sandra","family":"Crespo","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"Michigan State University, USA"}]},{"given":"Vincent","family":"Melfi","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Michigan State University, USA"}]},{"given":"Shalom M.","family":"Fisch","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"MediaKidz Research & Consulting, USA"}]},{"given":"Richard A.","family":"Lesh","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Indiana University, USA"}]},{"given":"Elizabeth","family":"Motoki","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Indiana University, USA"}]}],"member":"2432","reference":[{"key":"jgcms.2011070101-0","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.1542\/peds.107.2.423"},{"key":"jgcms.2011070101-1","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.1542\/peds.2009-2146"},{"key":"jgcms.2011070101-2","article-title":"Pragmatic knowledge and conceptual structure: Determinants of transfer between quantitative domains","author":"M.Bassok","year":"1993","journal-title":"Transfer on trial: Intelligence, cognition, and instruction"},{"key":"jgcms.2011070101-3","author":"J.
