Building on assimilation theory, we propose four hypotheses, relating training sequences to task performance, satisfaction, and self-efficacy, and test them using a quasi-experimental study in a database design context. Our empirical results suggest that subjects trained in the conceptual-procedural sequence achieve better far-transfer and near-transfer task performance and higher self-efficacy than those trained in the reverse sequence, although user satisfaction is not significantly different between the two groups. Implications for IS training research and practice are discussed.<\/p>","DOI":"10.4018\/jicte.2005100104","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2011,2,15]],"date-time":"2011-02-15T13:51:42Z","timestamp":1297777902000},"page":"39-55","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":0,"title":["An Empirical Study of the Effects of Training Sequences on Database Training Tasks and User Outcomes"],"prefix":"10.4018","volume":"1","author":[{"given":"Clive C.","family":"Sanford","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"Lviv Polytechnic University, Ukraine"}],"role":[{"vocabulary":"crossref","role":"author"}]},{"given":"Anol","family":"Bhattacherjee","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"University of South Florida, USA"}],"role":[{"vocabulary":"crossref","role":"author"}]}],"member":"2432","container-title":["International Journal of Information and Communication Technology Education"],"original-title":[],"language":"ng","link":[{"URL":"https:\/\/www.igi-global.com\/viewtitle.aspx?TitleId=2274","content-type":"unspecified","content-version":"vor","intended-application":"similarity-checking"}],"deposited":{"date-parts":[[2022,6,1]],"date-time":"2022-06-01T17:29:10Z","timestamp":1654104550000},"score":1,"resource":{"primary":{"URL":"https:\/\/services.igi-global.com\/resolvedoi\/resolve.aspx?doi=10.4018\/jicte.2005100104"}},"subtitle":[""],"short-title":[],"issued":{"date-parts":[[2005,10,1]]},"references-count":0,"journal-issue":{"issue":"4","published-print":{"date-parts":[[2005,10]]}},"URL":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.4018\/jicte.2005100104","relation":{},"ISSN":["1550-1876","1550-1337"],"issn-type":[{"value":"1550-1876","type":"print"},{"value":"1550-1337","type":"electronic"}],"subject":[],"published":{"date-parts":[[2005,10,1]]}}}
