Unforseen challenges have often emerged in SOA adoption. They have fallen into two categories: technical issues stemming from service components reuse difficulties and organisational issues stemming from inadequate support or understanding of what is required from the executive management in an organisation to facilitate the technical rollout. This special issue of IJIIT presents a collection of papers which attempt to resolve some of these issues.
