Our approach to aligning concepts (directly) is automatic, rule-based, and operates at the schema level, generating mostly point-to-point mappings. It uses a combination of lexical, structural and semantic techniques. It also takes advantage of domain-specific knowledge (lexical knowledge from external resources, such as the Unified Medical Language System, as well as knowledge augmentation and inference techniques). In addition to point-topoint mapping of concepts, we present the alignment of relationships and the mapping of concepts group-to-group. We have also successfully tested an indirect alignment through a reference ontology. We present an evaluation of our techniques, both against a gold standard and against a generic schema matching system. The advantages and limitations of our approach are analyzed and discussed throughout the article.<\/p>","DOI":"10.4018\/jswis.2007040101","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2011,2,15]],"date-time":"2011-02-15T19:02:42Z","timestamp":1297796562000},"page":"1-26","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":33,"title":["Experience in Aligning AnatomicalOntologies"],"prefix":"10.4018","volume":"3","author":[{"given":"Songmao","family":"Zhang","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"Chinese Academy of Sciences, China"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"given":"Olivier","family":"Bodenreider","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"U.S. National Library of Medicine, USA"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]}],"member":"2432","container-title":["International Journal on Semantic Web and Information Systems"],"original-title":[],"language":"ng","link":[{"URL":"https:\/\/www.igi-global.com\/viewtitle.aspx?TitleId=2832","content-type":"unspecified","content-version":"vor","intended-application":"similarity-checking"}],"deposited":{"date-parts":[[2022,6,1]],"date-time":"2022-06-01T22:54:24Z","timestamp":1654124064000},"score":1,"resource":{"primary":{"URL":"https:\/\/services.igi-global.com\/resolvedoi\/resolve.aspx?doi=10.4018\/jswis.2007040101"}},"subtitle":[""],"short-title":[],"issued":{"date-parts":[[2007,4,1]]},"references-count":0,"journal-issue":{"issue":"2","published-print":{"date-parts":[[2007,4]]}},"URL":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.4018\/jswis.2007040101","relation":{},"ISSN":["1552-6283","1552-6291"],"issn-type":[{"value":"1552-6283","type":"print"},{"value":"1552-6291","type":"electronic"}],"subject":[],"published":{"date-parts":[[2007,4,1]]}}}
