There is good evidence of the growing acceptability of the Internet in seeking health information. This paper aims to evaluate the patients' role as an informed-patient. This role, albeit, with its limitations, affects the ways by which people consume health, consult their doctors and also influence health policy. This paper is a sociological and anthropological analysis of the effect of e-health services on the informed-patients' role and their ability to bring about social change through the Internet and their use of e-healthcare services. Through analyzing current literature and examples of health-related websites, this analysis focuses on informed-patients and how they are able to demand better health services for themselves and for their communities.<\/p>","DOI":"10.4018\/ijudh.2015010105","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2015,11,13]],"date-time":"2015-11-13T20:08:09Z","timestamp":1447445289000},"page":"55-67","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":0,"title":["Toward an Informed-Patient Approach to E-Health Services"],"prefix":"10.4018","volume":"5","author":[{"given":"Keren","family":"Mazuz","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"Hadassah Academic College, Jerusalem, Israel"}]},{"given":"Seema","family":"Biswas","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Medical School for International Health, Be'er Sheva, Israel"}]},{"given":"Rui Amaral","family":"Mendes","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Case Western Reserve University, School of Dental Medicine, Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Medicine and Diagnostic Sciences, Cleveland, OH, USA"}]}],"member":"2432","container-title":["International Journal of User-Driven Healthcare"],"original-title":[],"language":"ng","link":[{"URL":"https:\/\/www.igi-global.com\/viewtitle.aspx?TitleId=141286","content-type":"unspecified","content-version":"vor","intended-application":"similarity-checking"}],"deposited":{"date-parts":[[2022,6,2]],"date-time":"2022-06-02T02:52:43Z","timestamp":1654138363000},"score":1,"resource":{"primary":{"URL":"https:\/\/services.igi-global.com\/resolvedoi\/resolve.aspx?doi=10.4018\/IJUDH.2015010105"}},"subtitle":[""],"short-title":[],"issued":{"date-parts":[[2015,1,1]]},"references-count":0,"journal-issue":{"issue":"1","published-print":{"date-parts":[[2015,1]]}},"URL":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.4018\/ijudh.2015010105","relation":{},"ISSN":["2156-1818","2156-180X"],"issn-type":[{"value":"2156-1818","type":"print"},{"value":"2156-180X","type":"electronic"}],"subject":[],"published":{"date-parts":[[2015,1,1]]}}}
