Salud"],"abstract":"<jats:p>Introducci\u00f3n: El yac\u00f3n (Smallanthus sonchifolius), es una planta nativa de las zonas andinas sudamericanas y se le han atribuido muchas propiedades beneficiosas para el organismo; entre las cuales destacan efectos antioxidantes, antimicrobianos, hipolipid\u00e9micos, antidiab\u00e9ticos e incluso anticancer\u00edgenos. Objetivo: Ampliar el conocimiento sobre las propiedades funcionales atribuidas al yac\u00f3n; para este prop\u00f3sito se har\u00e1 una recopilaci\u00f3n y lectura de los estudios publicados hasta la fecha sobre el yac\u00f3n y se utilizar\u00e1n para validar las propiedades beneficiosas que el yac\u00f3n tiene sobre la salud. Materiales y m\u00e9todos: Para el presente art\u00edculo se realiz\u00f3 una revisi\u00f3n sistem\u00e1tica desde noviembre del 2021 hasta enero del 2022, a trav\u00e9s de b\u00fasquedas electr\u00f3nicas en bases de datos como MedLine, PubMed y SciELO. Resultados: Este trabajo empieza con una breve descripci\u00f3n acerca de la fitoqu\u00edmica del yac\u00f3n; luego desarrolla las posibles propiedades antioxidante, antiinflamatoria, prebi\u00f3tica, anticancer\u00edgena, hipoglicemiante e hipolipid\u00e9mica atribuidas al yac\u00f3n. Conclusiones: El yac\u00f3n es un alimento muy nutritivo que cada vez se vuelve m\u00e1s conocido entre la poblaci\u00f3n debido a la divulgaci\u00f3n de sus propiedades beneficiosas, las cuales comprenden seg\u00fan la literatura consultada, efectos antioxidantes, antiinflamatorios, prebi\u00f3ticos, anticancer\u00edgenos, hipoglicemiantes e hipolipid\u00e9micos. Se considera necesario realizar m\u00e1s estudios sobre este alimento para dilucidar mejor sus efectos, ya que muchos de los datos reportados hasta ahora se originan en estudios con modelos animales y muy pocos con seres humanos.\r\nSUMMARY\r\nIntroduction: Yac\u00f3n (Smallanthus sonchifolius), is a plant native to the South American Andean areas and many properties have been attributed beneficial to the body; including antioxidant effects, antimicrobial, hypolipidemic, antidiabetic and even anticancer. Objective: Expand knowledge about the functional properties attributed to yacon; For this purpose, a compilation and reading of the studies will be made. published to date on yacon and will be used to validate the properties beneficial that yacon has on health. Materials and methods: For the This article carried out a systematic review since November 2021 until January 2022, through electronic searches in databases such as MedLine, PubMed and SciELO. Results: This work begins with a brief description about the phytochemistry of yacon; then develop the possible antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, prebiotic, anticancer, hypoglycemic and hypolipidemic properties attributed to yac\u00f3n. Conclusions: Yacon is a very nutritious food that is becoming more and more known among the population due to the disclosure of its beneficial properties, which include according to the consulted literature, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, prebiotic, anticarcinogenic, hypoglycemic and hypolipidemic.
