Evaluating post-COVID status of individuals treated with adjunct therapies is crucial to understanding their long-term outcomes.
Objective
This survey aimed to assess effectiveness of individualized homoeopathy as an adjunct therapy alongside conventional treatment in moderate-to-severe, oxygen-dependent COVID-19 cases.
Methods
A Telephonic survey was conducted from April 1 to May 29, 2022, including 219 participants discharged from AIIMS, Jhajjar, and St. George Hospital, Mumbai, who participated in placebo-controlled trials. The Post-COVID-19 Functional Status (PCFS) Scale assessed health outcomes, comparing add-on Homoeopathy (AoH) and add-on placebo (AoP) groups.
Results
The mean scores of PCFS Scale between groups were compared using chi-square test. The AoH group exhibited mean PCFS score of 0.83 ± 1.47 compared to 1.33 ± 1.63 in AoP group (mean difference: -0.49; P=0.04). Incidences of post-COVID complications like diabetes, hypertension, and exertional breathlessness were lower in AoH group, with significant improvements in functional ability (57% in AoH vs. 43% in AoP). No cases of anxiety, pneumonia, or kidney disease were reported in AoH group, contrasting with low incidences in AoP.
Conclusions
As an adjunct to standard COVID-19 care, Homoeopathy demonstrated potential in improving functional outcomes, helping patients combat post-COVID symptoms effectively. Further research is warranted to validate these findings.
[[2026,1,2
["Prevalence of Post-Covid Complications in a Follow-Up Survey of Participants of Two Randomized Controlled Trials of Individualised Homoeopathy on Moderate and Severe Cases of COVID-19: A Cross-Sectional, Telephonic Survey
Sunil S.
