It is an initiative started in 2016 in association with the Experimental Methods and Instrumentation (EMI)\ncommittee of the International Association for Hydro-Environment Engineering and Research (IAHR) aimed at advancing the use of experimental techniques in hydraulics and fluid mechanics research. It provides a structured approach for the learning and training workshop series to postgraduate students (aiming specifically\nat doctoral students), young researchers, and professionals with an\nexperimental background in fluid mechanics. It offers an opportunity to\nlearn about state-of-the-art instrumentation and measurement techniques and\nthe latest developments in the field by partnering with manufacturers. W.A.T.E.R. brings together academics, instrumentation manufacturers and\npublic sectors in a structured setting to share knowledge and to learn from\ngood practices. It is about training people who already have a certain knowledge and skill level but who need to go deeper and\/or wider in the field of measurement and experimental research.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.5194\/gc-5-143-2022","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2022,5,24]],"date-time":"2022-05-24T02:44:09Z","timestamp":1653360249000},"page":"143-150","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":0,"title":["W.A.T.E.R. \u2013 a structured approach for training on advanced measurement and experimental research"],"prefix":"10.5194","volume":"5","author":[{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0001-5064-6158","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Margaret","family":"Chen","sequence":"first","affiliation":[]},{"given":"Rui","family":"Aleixo","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[]},{"given":"Massimo","family":"Guerrero","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[]},{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0003-2941-0743","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Rui","family":"Ferreira","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[]}],"member":"3145","published-online":{"date-parts":[[2022,5,24]]},"reference":[{"key":"ref1","unstructured":"Adrian, R.
