{"status":"ok","message-type":"work","message-version":"1.0.0","message":{"indexed":{"date-parts":[[2025,5,14]],"date-time":"2025-05-14T13:14:22Z","timestamp":1747228462324,"version":"3.40.5"},"reference-count":0,"publisher":"Centro de Estudos da Populacao, Economia e Sociedade","content-domain":{"domain":[],"crossmark-restriction":false},"short-container-title":["PopSoc"],"abstract":"<jats:p>This study focuses on the environmental issue in Portugal after the 25th of April, analysing the problem from three main perspectives: the contextual diachronic perspective of the critical Anthropocene construction; the relevance of the environmental issue at national and international level and environmental policies in the Portuguese legislative framework, involving questions relating to the normativity of environmental law, legislative discourse and the semantic value of the expressions \u201cenvironmental quality\u201d, \u201cnature conservation\u201d, \u201cselfsustaining development\u201d, \u201csustainable development\u201d, \u201cenvironmental education\u201d, \u201cnatural environment\u201d, and \u201chuman environment\u201d as concepts associated with the evolution of environmental policies in post-April 25th Portugal. The question is that the Portuguese legal framework use of these concepts may contain an ambivalent valuation, oscillating between conservationist or environmentalist goals and developmentalist aims.
