The expansion of the Portuguese Colonial Empire in Angola was influenced by international policies and those of Portugal over several centuries. A review of the literature reveal that Portuguese discovery voyages followed scientific preparations, which allowed the secret of Angola\u2019s discovery to be kept for 48 years. The conquest of the territory in Angola had alarming periods, such as the slave trade.
