Young\n                        designers often tend to dive straight into creating abstract drawings and\n                        developing conceptual discourses without addressing the core purpose of the\n                        design. This lack of a clear purpose can demotivate designers. Drawing upon\n                        the author's experience and inclusive design examples, this paper delves\n                        into the pedagogical significance of formulating a \"good problem\". By\n                        examining common variables found in the manipulation of everyday objects,\n                        including interactions with individuals with disabilities during academic\n                        exercises, students have discovered a wellspring of inspiration. The paper\n                        advocates for the pivotal role of inclusive design within academia and its\n                        potential to fuel innovation in tackling societal challenges. Moreover, it\n                        highlights the wide-ranging impact of design solutions born from demanding\n                        circumstances, offering benefits to diverse groups of people. By bridging\n                        the realms of academia and real-world application, this study seeks to\n                        nurture critical reflection and contribute to the enhancement of inclusive\n                        design processes.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.54941\/ahfe1004125","type":"proceedings-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2023,7,18]],"date-time":"2023-07-18T20:08:55Z","timestamp":1689710935000},"source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":0,"title":["Common variables of a good problem: contributions of inclusive design in\n                        and beyond academia"],"prefix":"10.54941","author":[{"given":"Paula","family":"Trigueiros","sequence":"first","affiliation":[]}],"member":"33478","published-online":{"date-parts":[[2023]]},"event":{"name":"5th International Conference on Human Systems Engineering and\n                    Design: Future Trends and Applications (IHSED 2023)","acronym":"IHSED"},"container-title":["AHFE International","Human Systems Engineering and Design (IHSED 2023): Future Trends\n                    and Applications"],"original-title":[],"deposited":{"date-parts":[[2023,8,21]],"date-time":"2023-08-21T23:36:07Z","timestamp":1692660967000},"score":1,"resource":{"primary":{"URL":"https:\/\/openaccess.cms-conferences.org\/publications\/book\/978-1-958651-88-9\/article\/978-1-958651-88-9_18"}},"subtitle":[],"short-title":[],"issued":{"date-parts":[[2023]]},"references-count":0,"URL":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.54941\/ahfe1004125","relation":{},"ISSN":["2771-0718"],"issn-type":[{"value":"2771-0718","type":"print"}],"subject":[],"published":{"date-parts":[[2023]]}}}
