Multiscale Neurosci."],"abstract":"<jats:p>Sentience, defined as the capacity of feeling, for example,\nto experience basic sensations such as hunger, thirst and\nother types of qualitative mental states, is a\npsychobiological phenomenon that involves dynamic\npatterns of electrochemical (below 1Hz) and\nelectromagnetic (above 1Hz) waves in living systems. The\nscience we have called Sentiomics studies unconscious\ndynamic patterns in the brain that define the capacity for\nfeeling. This paper discusses the explanation of creative\nprocesses based on unconscious patterns that combine and\nconstructively interfere, generating a conscious output\nexperienced in the living system's first-person perspective.\nWe claim that the Sentiomics approach to wave\ninterferences helps to explain creative intuition, artistic\ncreativity, the formation of dreams, and related phenomena.\nWe raise a hypothesis \u2013 based on available evidence, to be\nexperimentally tested \u2013 that the dominance of slower\nsynchronized oscillatory frequencies (such as Delta, Theta\nand Alpha bands) in scalp electroencephalogram spectra\nmakes more room for constructive electrochemical\ninterferences supporting creativity. This research points\nto the dynamism of the unconscious mind, since such\ninterferences happen without the need of conscious control\nbut are influenced by the degree of attention focusing.
