Our protocol supports training for generically split datasets (vertical and horizontal splitting, or combination of those) while keeping all the information about features, thresholds, and evaluation paths private; only tree depth and the number of the binary trees are public parameters of the model. By using novel optimization techniques that reduce the number of oblivious permutation evaluations as well as sorting operations, we further speedup the algorithm. The protocol is agnostic to the underlying MPC framework or implementation.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.56553\/popets-2022-0099","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2022,8,31]],"date-time":"2022-08-31T17:28:44Z","timestamp":1661966924000},"page":"66-85","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":7,"title":["XORBoost: Tree Boosting in the Multiparty Computation Setting"],"prefix":"10.56553","volume":"2022","author":[{"given":"Kevin","family":"Deforth","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"Inpher, Switzerland"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"given":"Marc","family":"Desgroseilliers","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Inpher, Switzerland"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"given":"Nicolas","family":"Gama","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Inpher, Switzerland"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"given":"Mariya","family":"Georgieva","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Inpher, Switzerland"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"given":"Dimitar","family":"Jetchev","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Inpher, Switzerland"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"given":"Marius","family":"Vuille","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Inpher, Switzerland"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]}],"member":"35752","published-online":{"date-parts":[[2022,10]]},"container-title":["Proceedings on Privacy Enhancing Technologies"],"original-title":[],"deposited":{"date-parts":[[2022,8,31]],"date-time":"2022-08-31T17:28:56Z","timestamp":1661966936000},"score":1,"resource":{"primary":{"URL":"https:\/\/petsymposium.org\/popets\/2022\/popets-2022-0099.php"}},"subtitle":[],"short-title":[],"issued":{"date-parts":[[2022,10]]},"references-count":0,"journal-issue":{"issue":"4","published-online":{"date-parts":[[2022,10]]}},"alternative-id":["10.56553\/popets-2022-0099"],"URL":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.56553\/popets-2022-0099","relation":{},"ISSN":["2299-0984"],"issn-type":[{"value":"2299-0984","type":"electronic"}],"subject":[],"published":{"date-parts":[[2022,10]]}}}
