Using a qualitative approach and interpretative phenomenological analysis (IPA), the subjective experiences of participants in a 9-week Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC) program were examined. Analysis of the transcripts revealed four main themes: perceived benefits of MSC during pregnancy, challenges faced during the program, evaluations of the online format, and anticipated future use of learned skills. Participants identified challenges such as fatigue and physical limitations but found MSC training to be a valuable tool for self-care, well-being, and mental health during gestation. The findings underscore the role of MSC in enhancing emotional resilience and coping strategies during pregnancy, with participants expecting to apply these skills postpartum. The study advocates for the integration of MSC training into prenatal care to support maternal mental health and improve outcomes for mothers and children.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.62858\/apph251201","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2025,12,17]],"date-time":"2025-12-17T23:04:34Z","timestamp":1766012674000},"page":"5-22","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":0,"title":["Mindful Self-Compassion Training During Pregnancy: An Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis Study"],"prefix":"10.62858","volume":"39","author":[{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0002-3821-2346","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Carla","family":"Zambaldi","sequence":"first","affiliation":[]},{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0002-5111-7538","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Pomp\u00e9ia","family":"Villachan-Lyra","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[]},{"given":"Sirley","family":"Almeida","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[]},{"given":"Nadjara","family":"Vieira","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[]},{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0002-9204-9519","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Alexandra","family":"Marques-Pinto","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[]}],"member":"49507","published-online":{"date-parts":[[2025,12,18]]},"container-title":["Journal of Prenatal and Perinatal Psychology and Health"],"original-title":[],"deposited":{"date-parts":[[2025,12,17]],"date-time":"2025-12-17T23:04:34Z","timestamp":1766012674000},"score":1,"resource":{"primary":{"URL":"https:\/\/birthpsychology.com\/article\/mindful-self-compassion-training-during-pregnancy-an-interpretative-phenomenological-analysis-study\/"}},"subtitle":[],"short-title":[],"issued":{"date-parts":[[2025,12,18]]},"references-count":0,"journal-issue":{"issue":"3","published-online":{"date-parts":[[2025,12,18]]},"published-print":{"date-parts":[[2025,12,31]]}},"URL":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.62858\/apph251201","relation":{},"ISSN":["1097-8003"],"issn-type":[{"value":"1097-8003","type":"print"}],"subject":[],"published":{"date-parts":[[2025,12,18]]}}}
