Computational random number generators are able to algorithmically determine values on the basis of random distributions, which utilise seed values to calculate streams of random numbers. This deterministic approach to replicating seemingly non-deterministic numbers ensures stochastic models to be reproducible at any time\u00a0\u2013\u00a0one of the major requirements of simulation models. However, there are some pitfalls in the application of random number streams in modelling and simulation, which may even mislead experienced developers.
