Neurons\nand specifically motor-neurons are the elementary example\nof such symbiosis. Whereas single neurons can locally\nclose the sensory loop, neural networks are in charge of\ndriving higher level behaviours, from single actions to\ncomplete plans. As a main source of inspiration, the insect\nworld was taken into account, due to the simple brain complexity\nand, at the same time, the extraordinary plethora\nof behaviours that can be discovered in such creatures, to\nbe suitably exploited for the next generation of adaptive\nrobots.
