Blockchain is the underpinning technology that maintains the Bitcoin transaction ledger. The blockchain network operates in a state of consensus, which automatically checks in with itself periodically. One of biggest innovation by Bitcoin system is that it is a new way to develop open networks. Anything that happens on the blockchain is a function of the network as a whole. Crypto networks represent a fundamental shift in the way our society transacts, organizes, and works with each other, which could be explained and deciphered by econophysics of the network itself. From a networking perspective, we reviewed a list of current literatures that studied the crypto networks, mostly Bitcoin transaction networks. We identified the potential research areas that would further provide insights into the design of a more resilient and secure crypto networks.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.7287\/peerj.preprints.26911v1","type":"posted-content","created":{"date-parts":[[2018,5,3]],"date-time":"2018-05-03T16:48:12Z","timestamp":1525366092000},"source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":1,"title":["A review of crypto networks"],"prefix":"10.7287","author":[{"given":"Mian","family":"Zhang","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"College of Arts and Sciences, Roosevelt University, Chicago, Illinois, United States"}]},{"given":"Yuhong","family":"Ji","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"The Department of Education Psychology, Texas A&M University, College Station, Texas, United States"}]}],"member":"4443","container-title":[],"original-title":[],"link":[{"URL":"https:\/\/peerj.com\/preprints\/26911v1.pdf","content-type":"application\/pdf","content-version":"vor","intended-application":"text-mining"},{"URL":"https:\/\/peerj.com\/preprints\/26911v1.xml","content-type":"application\/xml","content-version":"vor","intended-application":"text-mining"},{"URL":"https:\/\/peerj.com\/preprints\/26911v1.html","content-type":"text\/html","content-version":"vor","intended-application":"text-mining"},{"URL":"https:\/\/peerj.com\/preprints\/26911v1.pdf","content-type":"unspecified","content-version":"vor","intended-application":"similarity-checking"}],"deposited":{"date-parts":[[2019,12,23]],"date-time":"2019-12-23T19:10:18Z","timestamp":1577128218000},"score":1,"resource":{"primary":{"URL":"https:\/\/peerj.com\/preprints\/26911v1"}},"subtitle":[],"short-title":[],"issued":{"date-parts":[[2018,5,3]]},"references-count":0,"aliases":["10.7287\/peerj.preprints.26911"],"URL":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.7287\/peerj.preprints.26911v1","relation":{},"subject":[],"published":{"date-parts":[[2018,5,3]]},"subtype":"preprint"}}
