E-waste, a growing issue, \npresents significant health and environmental risks, particularly at the household and \ncommunity levels. Using random sampling, 135 household members from selected \nareas of Ibadan participated in the study, with data collected through interviews, \nquestionnaires, observations, and documentary reviews. The findings show that 92% \nof participants are willing to pay for e-waste management services, with females \nexpressing a higher willingness. However, only 24% of participants were satisfied with \ncurrent services. About 70% recognized the public health risks linked to improper e\nwaste disposal, yet 28% still believe that the government should take full responsibility \nfor e-waste management. The study also revealed concerns about weak enforcement of \ne-waste regulations, with 41% of respondents identifying this issue and 88% criticizing \nthe leniency of penalties for violations. Based on these findings, the study recommends \nthat local government authorities strengthen the enforcement of existing e-waste \nregulations, increase funding for e-waste management, and improve public education \non responsible disposal practices. It also calls for further research to develop a model \nfor effective and coordinated e-waste management.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.69798\/69298916","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2025,6,26]],"date-time":"2025-06-26T04:49:09Z","timestamp":1750913349000},"page":"42-50","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":0,"title":["Exploring Factors Influencing Community Participation in Responsible E-Waste Management: A Case Study of Ibadan Metropolis, Nigeria."],"prefix":"10.69798","volume":"1","author":[{"name":"National Centre for Technology Management, Lagos, Nigeria.","sequence":"first","affiliation":[],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"given":"Rebecca","family":"Alao","sequence":"first","affiliation":[],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]}],"member":"50185","published-online":{"date-parts":[[2025,5,1]]},"container-title":["Nature and Trends in Science and Technology"],"original-title":[],"deposited":{"date-parts":[[2026,1,11]],"date-time":"2026-01-11T13:04:38Z","timestamp":1768136678000},"score":1,"resource":{"primary":{"URL":"https:\/\/koozakar.com\/journals\/article\/KJ-13415595"}},"subtitle":[],"short-title":[],"issued":{"date-parts":[[2025,5,1]]},"references-count":0,"journal-issue":{"issue":"1","published-online":{"date-parts":[[2025,5,1]]}},"URL":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.69798\/69298916","relation":{},"subject":[],"published":{"date-parts":[[2025,5,1]]}}}
