In the case of a rice root, one round of movement of the rice root tip showed a constant time of approximately 50 minutes. However, this movement ceased when Al ion was supplied. The time needed for resuming the movement of the root tip was dependent on the Al ion concentration. All the electromagnetic fields amplitude obtained decrease for the shielding layer existing, regardless of any condition, but the extent is different. That is, the effect on the horizontal electric field is most noticeable, the vertical electric field comes second, minimum the azimuthal magnetic field. For colleges of agriculture within land grant universities (LGUs), college leadership and tenured faculty in agricultural science disciplines have historically been disproportionately male, even though women earn nearly an equal number of doctorates. Conscious gender discrimination may account for some of these disparities; however, this is not the only cause of this imbalance. Gendered constructions of the division of labor and allocation of power within organizational cultures are also important to consider when addressing gender inequalities. Using a qualitative feminist methodology, we explored the intersection of identity, social roles, and gendered organizational cultures in colleges of agriculture and life sciences for female faculty. Findings reflect how gender norms have shifted through time as more female faculty join academic units yet, subtle bias and the institutional culture of large LGUs still influence behavioral expectations and perceived gender roles. However, the power of academic leaders to support equality indicates a type of local level influence that can push against the structural constraints of the institution. Restoring degraded peat soils is an attractive, but largely untested climate change mitigation approach. Drained peat soils used for agriculture or for peat extraction are often large carbon dioxide sources and will contribute to global warming. Therefore, restoring subsided peat soils to managed, impounded wetlands can turn these sources into carbon sinks. However, at present, the amount of scientific information available to guide such restoration decisions and assess the impact of these actions is still sparse and restoration outcomes can be low carbon uptake and high methane emissions. Therefore, the overarching goal of this project is to provide an experimental and theoretical understanding of how to restore wetlands with minimised methane emissions and maximised carbon uptake. To understand processes that regulate carbon sequestration efficiency and methane fluxes, there is a need to cover fields from the molecular level to the ecosystem level. To achieve that, multiple drivers, such as site-specific hydrology, legacy effects, soil chemistry, soil microbiology, vegetation development will be analysed in conjunction with greenhouse gas emissions. This effort directly addresses the European H2020 priorities of sustainable rural development and lower greenhouse gas emissions, which will help to slow down climate change.
[[2022,11,1
[[2023,7,24
[[2022,11,1
[[2023,7,24
[[2020,10,1
[[2023,7,24
Vulnerability mapping is a field of increasing importance as we search for an ecologically and economically sustainable climate smart land use system, which is necessary for the development of green infrastructure and agricultuVulnerability mapping is a growing field with an increasing importance in developing an ecologically and economically sustainable climate smart land use system, which may serve the advancement of green infrastructure and agricultural production. The transformation of the climatic regime has an undeniable impact on plant production, but we rarely have long enough data series to scrutinise the unfolding effects of the microregional patterns of global climate-cereal yield relationship. To fill this gap, I will analyse three regions of the Northern Hemisphere under continental climate, which represent key landscapes concerning global food production and security, contributing a multi-way knowledge transfer through training, teaching and different form of communication activities. The relationship between climate indices, maize and wheat yields will be analysed applying high geographical resolution data from Northern China, Hungary and northern states of the US Midwest at a landscape scale by Köppen-Geiger zones using linear, local and spatial regression and bootstrap resampling tests and developed data visualisation techniques. This offers a unique opportunity to comparatively analyse the differences in climate-cereal yield associations by landscape types and regions. Thus, their correct identification is important, e.g. for off-shore wind power generation. This project is a fundamental study on hydrodynamics turbulence, whose results will provide a methodological basis for innovation in wind energy technology. Extreme atmospheric convection events are characterized by large local amplitudes of the rate at which turbulent kinetic energy is dissipated, a central quantity that cannot be predicted from the highly nonlinear mathematical equations of fluid motion. This project aims at understanding the formation and predicting such extreme events of energy dissipation in Rayleigh-Bénard convection (RBC), a paradigm for atmospheric motion. Advanced high resolution measurements of the small-scale velocity field and its gradients will therefore be performed in a pressurized convection chamber at TU Ilmenau which allows to downscale turbulence and to use Particle Image Velocimetry for flows at Rayleigh numbers up to a million or higher. By combination of measured kinetic energy dissipation rate in the bulk and wall shear stresses in the boundary layer, we will identify the advection patterns that generate the extreme dissipation events. The present experimental analysis will be complemented by existing training data records of high-resolution direct numerical simulations of the same flows. They serve to develop data-driven methods and algorithms, such as recurrent neural networks, to predict such extreme events in experimental analyses. The goal of this project is to advance our understanding of the dynamic evolution of such extreme events in a RBC flow and to develop reliable tools to predict the events. This research objective will be reached in a multidisciplinary way by a combination of high resolution optical flow measurements with the data-driven modeling and data analytics by machine learning.
[[2021,6,1
[[2023,7,24
[[2021,6,1
[[2023,4,1
[[2020,3,19
["11771124
11771124
[[2020,8,1
Abstract
In this paper, we study properties of the lambda constants and the existence of ground states of Perelman’s famous W-functional from a variational formulation. It is proved that this class is a subgroup-closed formation of finite soluble groups which is not closed under taking Frattini extensions and whose members can be characterised by means of their Carter subgroups. This leads to new characterisations of finite soluble T-, PT- and PST-groups.
