We deploy and develop techniques from complex analysis to elucidate the mathematical structures and physical mechanisms relevant to cascade flows. Our approach considers both aerodynamic and aeroacoustic aspects but we focus efforts toward developing conformal mapping techniques amenable to cascades of complicated geometry and topology. The foundation of practical conformal mapping is the Schwarz\u2013Christoffel (SC) formula; we extend the SC formula to periodic domains which enables analytic constructions of the periodic flow field. By utilising tools from function theory, our solutions are valid for an arbitrary number of obstacles per period window.We also present algorithmic advances that enable rapid and accurate calculations of our mappings. Our theory is applied to classical idealised problems such as steady potential flows, unsteady vortex dynamics, and free-streamline flows. lunisolar resonances occur whenever there is a commensurability relationship between the argument of perigee and the longitude of the nodes of a space debris and the perturbing bodies. They shape the dynamics of a MEO object (navigation satellite or space debris) over secular timescales (i.e. several decades). Exploiting such resonances has also been proposed as an efficient and cost-effective strategy for the End-of-Life (EoL) disposal of satellites. This is based on the eccentricity growth along the hyperbolic directions of the phase space, leading to fast re-entry. Our approach improves on the heuristic estimates of previous works. by providing a precise analytical calculation of the borders of the separatrices of the resonances. These results are then compared with a numerical cartography obtained by the FLI. We find that our analytical approach provides an excellent approximation for a wide range of values of the semi-major axis. However, this picture is disturbed when major crossings take place between the inclination-only dependent resonance considered and one of the two resonances \u03a9-\u03a9_L and 2\u03a9- \u03a9_L that contain the precession of the lunar node. As these two resonances sweep the phase space (for increasing values of a) they cause large chaotic domains where our analytical estimates are no longer applicable. In these domains instead the secular evolution is governed by manifold dynamics. This is the dynamics of the stable and unstable manifolds emanating from the center manifold of circular orbits (e=0). In fact, the latter locally satisfies the properties of a normally hyperbolic invariant manifold (NHIM). Applications to the problem of EoL disposal are finally
