The phraseology as an anthropocentric linguistics sphere uses the phenomena of the surrounding world, including temporality, which are perceived through the prism of the national linguistic picture of the world. The linguistic model of perception and reproduction of unreality is expressed in grammatical and semantic categories. Structural PUs\u2019 components form specific images of the linguistic picture of the world of the native speaker of the Modern Greek language, associated with extra-linguistic and linguistic factors. The author uses the continuous sampling method and analyzes various components related to different cultural codes. As a result the systematic nature of syntactic models of PUs reveals a certain typology of the methods of their formation. Discussion will focus on the lived experience of three generations of woman who were interviewed in either Greek or English by an experienced qualitative researcher who held both an insider and outsider position within this community. The aim was to consider the issue of language maintenance and its significance. Findings show that, despite the decades that have passed since migration, identity loss has not occurred among this sample of Greek people in Melbourne. Common phenomena, such as translanguaging and the nature of bilingualism in this population, are also considered. This emphasizes the importance of language maintenance in this community and its significance in the identity perceptions of its members.\nKeywords: heritage language, Greek, language maintenance,
