There are specific sections on technical and management issues in plasmapheresis and immunoadsorption, their indications, and complications.

[[2016,2,26
["Special situations
[[2016,2
Oxford Handbook of Dialysis
Special situations
[[2022,8,2
[[2016,2
9780199644766","9780191742866
[[2016,2
2024,4,30
[[2009,6

This chapter explores special situations in dialysis, including dialysis in the elderly, assisted PD, managing diabetic patients on dialysis, surgery in dialysis patients, myeloma and renal failure, pain management in end-stage kidney disease (ESKD), difficulty of pain management in renal patients, managing pain, analgesic drugs, pain at the end of life, pregnancy in dialysis patients, travelling and holidays, plasmapheresis, immunoadsorption techniques, and indications for immunoadsorption.

[[2011,5,9
["Special situations
[[2010,8
Oxford Handbook of Dialysis
Special situations
[[2022,8,3
[[2009,6
9780199235285","9780199598854
[[2009,6
2022,8,3
[[2014,4

Research studies have failed to evaluate different TENS techniques for specific conditions. Safe and appropriate TENS technique is based on the use of conventional TENS delivered at a strong, non-painful intensity at the site of pain in the first instance with patients selecting pulse pattern, frequency, and duration for reasons of comfort. In practice, it is necessary to adapt this approach for specific painful conditions. The purpose of this chapter is to demonstrate how the general principles of good practice are applied when using TENS to manage various painful conditions. The chapter discusses acute pain, including post-operative pain and labour pain, chronic musculoskeletal pain, including back pain and osteoarthritis, chronic neuropathic pain, including peripheral and central neuropathic pain, cancer pain, and TENS for children and the elderly.

[[2017,11,20
["Practicalities of using TENS for specific conditions and situations
["Oxford Medicine Online
Practicalities of using TENS for specific conditions and situations
2022,8,3
[[2014,4
[[2014,4
2022,8,3
[[2016,5

In caring for patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), there are several important treatment considerations. Since many patients with SLE are female and of childbearing potential, it is important to address conception planning, contraceptive options, and the maternal and fetal risks associated with pregnancy, which are increased when there is higher SLE disease activity. It is also pertinent to address medication safety issues throughout pregnancy and lactation, as some commonly used medications can increase risks of adverse pregnancy outcomes. Additionally, patients with SLE are at higher risk for cardiovascular disease (CVD) than the general population. Therefore, these patients must undergo aggressive risk factor modification. Patients with SLE are also at increased risk for osteoporosis, and bone health is an important treatment consideration. Routine cancer screening and vaccinations are also important elements of the comprehensive treatment of the patient with SLE.

[[2016,5,26
["Management of special situations in systemic lupus erythematosus
["Oxford Medicine Online
Management of special situations in systemic lupus erythematosus
2022,8,3
[[2016,5
[[2016,5
["SZTE
Szeged, Hungary
SZTE Klinikai Orvostudományi Doktori Iskola
2025,11,12
[[2025,11,12
[[2025,10,16
["Role of electrocardiography in special clinical situations
["Doctoral School of Clinical Medicine
[[2025,11,12
["PhD
[[null
[[2026,2,7
[[2025
[[2026,2,7
["Negotiating in Special Situations: Getting Specialized
["Negotiation
2026,2,7
[[2025
9781071834534
10.4135/9781071834534
[[2025
2025,10,29
[[2007,2,22
["Anaesthesia
1968,9
[[2007,2,22
["Fluids for emergency conditions*
M.
